My heart goes out to all of Audrey’s family. I had the joy and privilege of meeting Audrey in the summer when she very graciously offered to take me, my brother, and sister on a full driving tour throughout Bruce County to visit the original land purchased by the Craig family back in 1852, and to re-capture much of our family history which Audrey had either known or researched. She was really a gem: so full of life and knowledge. Consequently, it was a shock to hear of her passing. May you all be comforted by wonderful memories and find peace in knowing that Audrey led a full and purposeful life!

My sympathy to all the Underwood family. I will miss Audrey terribly. She has been a tower of strength and source of inspiration to me for so many years. We shared the same hobby of genealogy and history. We chatted for hours on the phone trying to climb a family tree or "knock down a brick wall."(genealogy term for not finding information we were looking for).
Although I never got to know any of you well she often talked about you especially her grandchildren and the new babies that were arriving.
It's going to be hard to go on without her . I will be reminded of her every time I go to the Archives to research, every time I print a new book and especially every April when we start a new group of people on their quest for Family History. Her memory and good ideas will be with all of us in the Genealogy and Historical Society as long as we live.
I'm sorry I did not get to her funeral. Instead I stayed home and cried as I wrote this for all of you. You must know what a wonderful lady she was!

As a Southampton summer resident, I became interested in the history of the town and church of Dunblane several years ago. I asked about the town's history at a Bruce County Historical Society event, and someone directed me to Audrey. She offered to give me a tour, and we spent half a day driving around the Dunblane area, as Audrey told me about where the buildings of the old town were located. We visited Audrey's family farm, now the Marriott's farm, and visited with Anne. It was a wonderful experience to see Dunblane through Audrey's eyes. I am very sorry to hear of her passing, and will miss her very much. I hope someone has preserved the notes about Dunblane history that she was compiling in the hope of writing a book. My sympathies to Audrey's family.

I have fond memories of Audrey living next door when she invited us over for horse back riding and many times drove me home after school activities...She was so kind and entertaining and I admired her love for history and research and archives. I will never forget her kindness and support when she reached out to me at a difficult time and more recently enjoyed an encounter with her where she shared all her happenings over recent years. I was amazed at her continued excitement and joy of life and the list of many things she still wished to do. She will be missed by money. I hope the shared memories of so many others, along with your own foster your healing during this time.

I met Audrey about twenty-five years ago when she was teaching a mini workshop on climbing your family tree at the local museum. She sparked in me the desire to learn more and I began a hobby that lasted many years.
Her gentle unassuming manner and vast knowledge of local families and history of the area...plus that twinkle in her eyes and eagerness to help are what I remember most.

We were perusing the demolition of a bank barn of local significance and discussing genealogy when Audrey looked down at the laneway grass, bent over and picked up a four-leaf-clover. They say family are friends we don't get to choose.Audrey came to trace her Webster and Chamney roots along with 40 other relatives and then returned a few years ago to spend a week with us in Wexford chasing down the original wexford Webster who settled in Ontario.
we had a wonderful fun time researching , visiting Webster sites, contacting museums and meeting a vast array of people. What great company Audrey was a " teenager " in her love of the search. We have kept in touch ever since and I had planned to come to Elgin to visit her but sadly ,that is now not to be.
Audrey did prove conclusively the vital connection between Wexford and Ontario so her quest was full-filled. A testament to her tenacity ,determination and love of family. Audrey's family and friends were lucky to have had the company of this extraordinary person that we are proud to call our friend. She will rest in peace after such a full and productive life.

Audrey was a wonderful person who enriched many of us through teaching, the historical society, the genealogy society, the museum, etc. She taught me in public school, invited us for horseback riding on the farm, enriching our lives in her beloved Bruce County. So sad to hear of Audrey's passing. I just visited witth her last Thursday at Elgin Lodge...... One of my favourite people.
We always greeted each other with a cherry "Hello Cousin!" She got me interested in family history and low and behold she pointed out that we were related. She laughed when she told me - and said "That's Bruce County for you!".......
She always made time to visit me when I worked at the Bruce County Museum and she was in the Archives doing her 'detective work" as she called it.
