Peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at Grey Bruce Health Services, Southampton, in her 86th year. Gertie, loving wife of the late Lloyd Schmidt and the late Fraser Brown. Loving mother of Leslie Brown and his wife Rosalia, the late Barbara Schaefer and her husband Gary, and the late Larry Brown. Proud Grandma of Charlene (Jim), Todd, Ron (Julia), Nicholas, and Jonas. Great Grandma of Matthew, Lucas, Jaiden, and Elliott. Dear sister of Cecil, Rennie, Clifford, Murray, Elmer, Everett, and Ken. Predeceased by her sisters Ruby Eedy, and Doris McKay, and by her brother Gordon. Dear friend and mother-in-law of Nicole Brown. Gertie will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, and large extended family.
Friends will be received on Sunday, September 17th, 2017, from 2-4pm at the T.A. Brown Funeral Home, 510 Mill Street, Port Elgin, 519-832-2222. A Celebration of Gertie’s life will be held on Monday, September 18th, 2017 at the Underwood Community Centre, at 2:00pm.
Memorial donations to the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
