Peacefully, at home in Port Elgin, with family by his side, on Thursday, April 14, 2016, in his 97th year.  Jack, loving husband of the late Margaret (nee Guymer).  Beloved father of Linda Gross, Mary Gross, John and his wife Margaret, Catherine Gross, and Michael and his wife Andrea.  Proud grandfather of Linnaea, Leo, Megan, Jakob, Hanna, Elizabeth, and James.  Dear brother-in-law of Rosaleen and Renie.  Predeceased by his brothers Carl, Art (Ruby), Harold (Lois), Bob, and by his sister Helen (Ted Marshall).  Jack will be missed by many beloved nieces and nephews.  John was knighted by King Leopold II of Belgium with the Cross of War.  Following his service he worked his way up to V.P. of Firestone Canada where he enjoyed a long career.  A life long supporter of the YMCA, Jack and his wife Margaret met in Port Elgin where they bought the cottage of their dreams, lived, loved, and where Jack spent his final years.

Friends will be received at the T.A. Brown Funeral Home, 510 Mill Street, Port Elgin, 519-832-2222, on Sunday, April 17th, 2016 from 2 – 4pm.  A funeral service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 525 Ivings Drive, Port Elgin, on Monday, April 18th, 2016 at 1:00 pm. Interment Sanctuary Park Cemetery.

Memorial donations to the Home & Community Support Services “Day Away Program” Port Elgin or the YMCA would be appreciated by the family.
