Passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, March 28, 2019 in his 94th year. Bob was the only child of William and Sadie Maas of Toronto and Gobles Grove. The Maas family farm was on the 12th of Bruce.
Bob worked for his father’s business (Wilson Refrigeration) and he travelled the province looking after cooling and ice making systems in creameries, arenas and curling rinks. Turned down by age to join the Navy, Bob became a merchant marine where he looked after the engines of the ships he was on. He often made it to the coast of Great Britain but never actually set foot on land.
Bob is survived by a few first cousins who are his closest family relations and by Mark and Brent Christmann and the children of John and Norma Dunlop who were his chosen kids.
Bob will be interred at Sanctuary Park Cemetery. Friends will be received on Tuesday, April 30th, 2019 from 2:00 – 4:00pm for a Celebration of Bob’s life at the Royal Canadian Legion, 630 Green Street, Port Elgin.
Donations in his honour may be made to the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation or Saugeen Shores Minor Baseball, Hockey, Soccer or Figure Skating associations.
