Eileen Mary (Kelly) Drake

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wife and mother, Eileen Mary Drake (nee Kelly) on Monday, April 5, 2021 surrounded by family at the Saugeen Memorial Hospital, Southampton.

Loving wife for almost 60 years (July 29, 1961) of Thomas Drake, and mother of Bruce and his wife Keitha, Brad, and Andrew and his wife Monique. Loving grandmother of Jessica (Mark), Sara (Reid), Brent (Sarah), Meaghan (Matt), and Sarah; great grandmother of Avery, Blake, Brendan, Brooke, Madeline, and Lily. Survived by her sister Shirley Parker (Norm), and sisters-in-law June Kelly and Patricia Drake. A loving aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sisters Kathleen Crawford (John), Florence Wicks (Dave); brothers George Kelly, and Ron Kelly (Patricia) and by her brother-in-law Bill Drake.

Eileen came into her own when we moved to Southampton in 1974 and quickly made new friends., becoming active in softball/slo-pitch for over 30 years. She later took up golf with her husband and it remained her passion for almost 40 years. She became quite accomplished in this new sport, winning the handicap reduction award for Ontario, two ladies club championships, and two senior ladies club championships at Saugeen Golf and Country Club.

Eileen was proud of her 25 year career as a school bus driver. One she genuinely enjoyed, except maybe on those bad snow days when the busses were not cancelled. This career also garnered long lasting friendships.

A private family memorial service will take place at 1:00pm on Friday, April 9, 2021 at the T.A. Brown Funeral Home, 510 Mill Street, Port Elgin, 519-832-2222. Family and friends wishing to view the funeral service may do so on facebook @BrownFamilyFH or in the service details below.

Memorial donations to the Covenant House, Toronto (Eileen’s favorite Charity) or the Canadian Tire JumpStart Charity would be appreciated by the family.

The family would like to thank Dr. Higgins and the medical staff at the Saugeen Memorial Hospital, Southampton that showed great compassion to Eileen and her family during this difficult time.
