Irene Mary Streeter

Irene Mary Streeter passed away peacefully on December 15th, 2021, in Kitchener, Ontario at the age of 95.

Irene was born to William and Barbara Ingles of Toronto, Ontario on August 17, 1926.

She left city life and married Andrew Bruce Hill of Southampton, Ontario in 1945 and joined him on his farm at Sparks Corners between Southampton and Port Elgin, Ontario.

She quickly adapted to her new life and created a very welcoming and loving home, where she and Bruce raised their five children and fostered six other children. She was very good at providing for her family and others as she became an excellent baker, seamstress and gardener. She was very generous, and always had room for one more at her table.  

Irene is proceeded in death by her parents William and Barbara Ingles, her sister Jean Richards, her brothers Gerald Ingles and Lawrence Ingles, her first husband Andrew Bruce Hill, her second husband Leslie Streeter and her daughter Sharon Gagnon.

She is survived by her son Elgin Hill and her daughters Moneca Vance, Jan Hill-Veniot and Linda Nelson, as well as eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She will always be remembered as a loving and caring mother and she will be deeply missed.

Our family would like to express our gratitude to the staff at Sunnyside Home in Kitchener, Ontario for all the care and support she received during her years there.

Memorial donations will be accepted by Brown Family Funeral Homes to purchase a bench with a plaque at Sunnyside Home in Irene’s honor.

A funeral service for Irene will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, January 3, 2022 at the T.A. Brown Funeral Home, 510 Mill Street, Port Elgin, 519-832-2222.
