James Irwin Obituary

Peacefully at home, in his sleep after a short battle with cancer, on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 in his 69th year. He leaves behind his wife Candy, his two children Kyle (Allison) and Glenda, and his beloved grandchildren Val, and Kaitlyn. He is also survived by his sister Judy MacArthur, his in-laws Dale and Sandy Grieve, and Blair Rusk and his many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Predeceased by his parents Elmer and Doris Irwin, brother-in-law Lloyd MacArthur, nephew Kirk, and 3 grandchildren Stacey, Connor, and Nathan.

Jim was born and spent most of his life on the family homestead on the 12th Concession of Bruce Township. After his marriage, he went into partnership with his father, milking registered Holsteins. Upon selling the herd in 1992, he turned his to feedlot cattle, then cash cropping. In 1995, he left farming, but not the farm, going to work for Ontario Hydro and renting the land out to neighbours.

His retirement  from Ontario Power Generation in 2013 gave him the opportunity to indulge in his long-loved hobby, buying and restoring Oliver tractors and farm implements. He could often be found travelling the country and south of the border to attend farm shows, auctions or just get togethers with his fellow Oliver collectors.

He was also a big fan of camping, once driving all the way out to the west coast with Candy, camping and visiting family along the way. He was a proud member of the Masons, Aldworth Lodge 235.
