Jitka (Janecek) Dunbar

Jitka Dunbar (nee Janecek), loving mom of Adrienne Dunbar and Victor Dunbar passed away peacefully in her 59th year on November 3rd, 2019.

Daughter to Alena Janecek (nee Ebenstreit) and the late Milan Janecek. Sister to Iva and her husband Derrick Hodgson. Aunt to Jennifer & Ashley Hodgson. Special niece to Milena Buryanek. Family by choice, friend and mentor to many.

Jitka was an incredibly strong, compassionate, and inspiring woman. Her love, laughter and generosity will be missed by all. She was a passionate teacher who cared deeply for her students and always took a personal interest in their success.

Everyone knew Jitka’s two greatest accomplishments were her two beautiful children with whom she shared her love of hockey. When Jitka wasn’t busy being a mom or watching her favourite teams she spent her time singing, volunteering and going on drives by the lake.

Jitka’s life was nothing short of beautiful despite the many health challenges thrown her way. She faced every challenge with a smile on her face and a determination to overcome it no matter how hard it may have seemed. May she always be remembered for her kind heart, words of wisdom and sheer determination to leave the world around her just a little bit better than the way she found it.

Family and friends will gather on Friday, November 8th, 2019 from 7-9pm at the T.A. Brown Funeral Home located at 510 Mill Street, Port Elgin, ON 519-832-2222. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 9th, 2019 at 11am at the Port Elgin United Church, located at 840 Bruce Street. Cremation to follow.

Memorial donations to the Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or the Women’s House of Grey Bruce would be appreciated by the family.
