Lori Ann (Kelly) McDermid

Peacefully, at her home on Monday, March 6, 2023 at the age of 50. Lori Ann, beloved wife for 23 years of Darcy McDermid. Loving daughter of Karen and the late Ron Kelly. Dear sister of Jeff Kelly and his wife Loannda, daughter-in-law of Dale and the late Carl McDermid, and sister-in-law of Angie Thom and her husband Dwayne. Proud aunt of Lauren Gibbons, Zack Kelly, and David and Alex Thom. Lori will be forever remembered by her friend Christine Jokinen and her special Mama Mary. 

A special thank you to Dr. David Billings and the staff of the Southampton Hospital. A huge debt of gratitude is owed to Dr. Tara Somerville. This amazing healer went above and beyond her role of doctor on many occasions to give Lori a chance at the best quality of life achievable. Thank you to all the special woman past and present who made Lori’s life full of happiness and independence. Three very special women saw her through to the end, Gaynor Eaglesham, Callee McLaren and Jenn Garside. These women are cherished friends and were shining lights in the darkest days. They are forever held in the highest regard for their dedication. 

Lori had a powerful presence in her little body. She overcame insurmountable obstacles on a regular basis. She squeezed every drop of life that she could out f her short time. She finally has her well earned peace. 

Lori’s 50th birthday party last May will serve as her celebration of life. It was everything she asked for AND she got to be there.

There will be a private interment at Sanctuary Park Cemetery, Port Elgin.

Memorial donations to the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation or the Rick Hansen Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
