In loving memory of Maurice Rainville who passedaway on Wednesday October 19th, 2022 at Gateway Haven, Wiarton with his children by his side.
Born in Bonfield, Ontario on October17th, 1933 to the late Ovila and Leonie (nee Ouellette) Rainville.
Beloved husband to Irene (nee Trowsdale). Loving father to Jeannette (Mike) of Port Elgin and Gerry (Cindy) of Port Elgin. Loving papa to Michelle(Johnny), Alison (Skinny) and Heather. Loving great grandfather to Chloe, Aiden, Bronson, Muirrin, Braelyn and Rhett.
He leaves behind his sisters Rita (Mike) and Therese (Guy predeceased). Predeceased by his brothers Joseph, George and Victor, and sisters Bertha, Louise and Alice. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
After finishing high school, Maurice moved to Deep River where he worked at Atomic Energy of Canada Limited until his retirement in 1988. He met his wife Irene in Deep River and they were married April 21st,1956. He lived in Deep River until 2016 when he and his wife Irene moved to Port Elgin to be closer to his children and grandchildren.
Maurice was a man who didn’t like to sit still and enjoyed many different activities. He had a love of the outdoors and enjoyed camping, canoeing and was an avid skier. He also enjoyed photography and woodworking and many people in the family enjoy his pictures in the detailed picture frames he made. He enjoyed dancing and travelled to many square dance events with his wife Irene. He loved to travel and made many trips in Canada and the US with his wife in whichever RV they owned at the time. Later on he enjoyed cruising the world.
Maurice was active in the community and volunteered his time to many organizations.
Above all he was a family man.
The family would like to thank the staff at Kingsway Arms, Port Elgin, Owen Sound Hospital Unit 4-6 and especially the staff at Gateway Haven, Wiarton fortheir care and support over the last year.
A memorial service for Maurice will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish, 920 Wellington Street, Port Elgin.
Memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family.
