Ruby Friar Obituary

Ruby Leona Friar of Paisley passed away surrounded by her family at St. Mary’s General Hospital, Kitchener, on Friday, May 18, 2018 in her 92nd year.  Beloved wife of the late James.  Much loved Mom of daughter Rosalie (Ian) Heustin of Millgrove, and Patricia (James) Tilt of New Dundee.  Beloved grandma of Sean, Craig (Amanda), and Cale Heustin. Great grandma of Zachary and Matthew Heustin.  Ruby is survived by her sisters Phyllis Arkell of Cargill, Dorothy Nicholson of Chesley, Barbara (Bob) Ferguson of Wiarton, Anne Gibson of Owen Sound, Violet (Bob) Swannell of Owen Sound, brother Lawrence (Shirley) Nicholson of Owen Sound, sister-in-law Sheila Nicholson of Penetang, and brother-in-law John Rossiter of Barrie.  Predeceased by her infant twin grandsons Kevin and Christopher Heustin, sisters Urilla (Elmer) Vance, Gwen Rossiter, Sybil (David) Esplen, Vina Thompson, brothers Lloyd, Clarence, Jim, Clive, and Stanley Nicholson, and by her parents Esline and Stella (nee Rowley) Nicholson. 

Ruby loved sewing, embroidery, knitting and curled for many years.  She was a member of the Presbyterian Women’s Auxiliary and also belonged to the Erna Rebekah Lodge.  

Friends will be received on Wednesday, May 23rd, 2018 from 10:00am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00am at the Knox United Church, 399 Goldie Street, Paisley.  Interment Lovat Cemetery. 

Memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
