I will miss my one time neighbor and "go-to-guy" ... Russ could always be counted on to lend a helping hand, and he was also a man of his word ... leastways, I couldn't believe his taking the time to phone to let me know he wouldn't be able to meet me as planned (to help get my winter tires installed), because he'd had to go to the hospital and wasn't sure whether he was going to be admitted ... so because he knew I depended on him every spring & fall, he made a point of phoning me at the time, which only goes to show how seriously he took his commitments & the lengths he went to, so as to keep his word.

Russ was a respected , loyal and valued employee during my period of ownership @ Chippewa Golf Course. Having been involved in the build process of Chippewa on his family's homestead , and being Chippewa's first Superintendent, Russ brought us invaluable history and knowledge about the characterstics and nuances of the course - but above all -- an ownership and committment to his responsibilities second to none.
Russ became a close personal friend over the yrs whom I could count on in any situation if needed.
I am very fortunate to have known Russ. I will miss him dearly.
